Motorola V3x

The V3x, originally named the v1150, is the first cell phone by Motorola with a 2.0 mega pixel camera and another model hoping to buildup on the success of the original Razr. The feel of the V3x is noticeably different with its soft plastic case replacing the aluminium brushed finish of the older Razr. The V3x is also loaded with plenty of memory for ring tones and pictures. Similar to the w900 the V3x is a 3G phone, which means aside from the 2.0 mega pixel camera the cell phone has a built in VGA camera on the inside of the clam shell design. Other than video conferencing the built in inner camera can also be used to take convenient portrait shots.

After using the V3x for a couple weeks it has a lot of great features, but some setbacks too. The first thing that annoyed me was its flipping mechanism, it’s not nearly as smooth as the original razr and feels cheap when opening or closing it (probably because of the plastic case instead of the brushed aluminium). The reception quality is alright but the speaker could be a little louder, and the battery isn’t all that great. I also left the phone in the glove compartment of my car for a few hours during the summer (30 degree celsius, ~85 degrees farenheit) and that pretty much destroyed the flipping mechanism. Overall the phone is built with tons of features but loses a lot of that appeal that the razrs originally had, style, a solid finish, and durability.
